On Prime Time, we review how universally and for centuries governments have been using 'nationalism' as a tool to control their citizens. The Supreme Court made it mandatory for movie halls to play the national anthem before screening films and that everyone present are supposed to stand up as a 'sacred obligation'. We ask whether imposing nationalism on individuals is right in a country whose anthem was penned by Rabindranath Tagore, who himself was critical of the concept of nationalism. (Audio in Hindi)
