Ralf Souquet takes on Alex Pagulayan in the finals of the 2002 US Open 9-Ball Championship.
Souquet, 34, already had two IBC titles earlier in the year, including one earlier in the month. Twenty four year old Pagulayan had defeated Earl Strickland to get to the finals and had multiple top five finishes for the year.
Neither of these players had ever won this event, and they were both gunning for the title in front of a packed house in Chesapeake, Virginia. This was one race to thirteen, so get comfortable. This is a long one.
This match was so good, they had to bring a third commentator in to handle it all. Jim Wych, Billy Incardona and Mike Sigel were in the box.
