In a significant step towards how we reimagine water and deliver a better life for our customers, Sydney Water last week launched a new white paper on unlocking the circular economy in the Western Parkland City.
In what is described as a ‘trillion-dollar opportunity for Australia’, the paper has laid out several challenges and opportunities to kickstart the circular economy in Western Sydney. The Western Parkland City is the largest greenfield development in NSW and, as the city grows and evolves, the circular economy will play an important role in delivering a resilient, sustainable and thriving city of the future.
We see the Western Parkland City as a massive opportunity to introduce systems for turning food waste into energy from the earliest planning stages, maximizing the city’s vast greenfield potential.
Developed in partnership between Sydney Water, NSW Circular and stakeholders across many sectors including government, industry, business, research and academia, the paper was launched at an event at NSW Parliament with the Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres MP.
