The Scottish Parliament debated the tax change on Wednesday, with Tory MSP Tim Eagle saying they would be “disastrous” for medium-sized, family farms.
He said: “Labour have underestimated just how many farms this will affect and they have underestimated the anger that these changes have created.”
Douglas Ross ripped into the Scottish Labour Party, saying: 'The Prime Minister said this to the NFU 'I know what losing a farm means. Losing a farm is not like losing any other business you can't come back.'
'Farmers watched that speech and believed and trusted in the leader of the Labour Party that he understood what they were going through and what they face as custodians of the countryside.'
'He lied to farmers and crofters across Scotland, and the UK and labour should pay the price for that.'
