Hernan Cortes was one of the first and most famous conquistadors of all time. In this video we will follow his life from when he decided to embark on an adventure in the New World to the peak of his powers.
Young conquistador-to-be grew tired of his ’plain’ life in Spain, which was adventurous as it was, and decided to quench his thirst for power in the newly-found America. Cortes became one of the first conquistadors when he landed in today’s Mexico, then the great Aztec Empire.
His arrival was aided by the help of the native population who didn’t appreciate the Aztecs’ rule. With their help and superior weaponry, Hernan Cortes managed to overthrow the Aztec emperor Montezuma and conquer Tenochtitlan – the biggest city in America at the time.
During his time in the Americas, he made a lot of children and left behind an important legacy, albeit a controversial one.
