The Catalan Gigabit Society plan is an umbrella for many digital projects in Catalonia, Spain. One aspect of it is to connect all governmental sites with a fibre network and then give the rest of the capacity to the market as a wholesale offer. The project made it possible for several operators to participate, using the backbone infrastructure, and to connect mainly rural areas of the region.
