1987 was a fantastic year for southern cinema. While we did have Nayakan hit the screens, Kamal Haasan was part of another spectacular, special film. Pesum Padam/ Pushpak is a masterpiece from Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, starring Kamal Haasan and Amala in a one-of-a-kind film with no dialogues. The film released in 5 languages and went on to have a 35-week theatrical run in Bangalore, and was also screened at the Cannes and Shanghai film festivals. Pushpak also won the National Film Award for the Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment. RetroTicket is proud to present our reel on this gem of a film.
Find out more about what made the movie unique back then, and what makes it worth revisiting even now. Do watch out for the trivia popping in and out!
