Ever wondered what exactly it means to ‘save the turtles’? Turtles all around the world are in danger of extinction, but in this video I’ll be talking about my recent experience working with the conservation organisation LAST (Latin American Sea Turtles) at their Osa In-Water project in Costa Rica.
Not only has it been a fascinating experience, but it has quite fundamentally changed my understanding of what ‘conservation’ means. A large part of conserving animals is researching and finding out more about the species, because it is this act which enables us to know what they need to survive better (e.g. knowing more about green turtles’ foraging patterns enables us to make sure they have better access to the seagrass pastures where they feed.)
The turtle monitoring program also works in tandem with our mangrove reforestation scheme, so if you haven’t already then you can check out my other video here:

I hope you enjoy finding out more about turtles, and I hope it inspires you to get involved in conservation work too! Pura vida x
