Like many other hobbyists, I've occasionally been frustrated by using an op-amp that isn't fully functional, resulting in a waste of time trying to find a fault that could have been avoided if the condition of the component could have been easily checked.
This is my goal with this project. I want to design a tester that can easily tell me if the op-amp is good or not, regardless of whether it is a single, dual or quad package.
The basic concept involves creating a vibrator circuit using the op-amp under test as the driver, to drive an indicator LED. A dual-polarity LED is used in this case, as it provides a simple two-colour indication of a functioning op-amp.
