Saranda, Albania

Saranda is an old town in the northeast of Albania. It's one of the best known seaside resorts of Albania with many hotels and restaurants. The town has a rich history as it was once a Greek colony called Sparta and was later conquered by the Romans. During Ottoman rule, Saranda became part of Rumelia. In 1912, after the Balkan Wars, it became part of Albania.

The city has many beaches that are perfect for swimming or sunbathing during summer months (July-September). There are some beautiful pine forest on the outskirts of Saranda which gives you a sense of nature when walking around town.
