How to pick out the best sleep sack for your baby or toddler:
Pyjamas & Sleep sack time
After massage time, it’s time for pyjamas and a sleepsack. Now sleep safety is something I cover in detail in my 21 Days to Peace and Quiet program.
What I will say for now, is that you should never have a loose blanket or a pillow in your baby’s bed. These items can travel upwards and potentially cover your baby’s face, which could potentially lead to a higher risk of suffocation.
How to choose a sleep sack
Sleepsacks are, by far, your safest option. I love them so much – I could talk about them all day! Now that your baby is 6-12 months old and he no longer needs to be swaddled, what you’re really looking for in a sleepsack is the different type to wear for different seasons.
Sleepsacks are graded based on their tog rating. Tog is basically a level of insulation or
warmth. For the summer months, you want a tog of 0.5 or 1 – really lightweight. For winter, you want a 2.5 – 3.5 tog rating.
Just below the video, I’ve linked to two of my favourite brands. They are very popular brands.
The Grobag is really durable, great quality and really cute.
The Zipadee Zip is especially great for babies who loved being swaddled. It has just a tiny bit of tightness around the arms. It also covers your baby’s hands so they don’t get cold in the night.
Both of the sleepsacks can be worn for upwards of a year. They’re really great, so check them out!
