The potentiometers in my 9616PS bench power supply were going bad, so it was time to change them out for new units. it has 2 each of 10k and 1k pots to adjust the voltage and current. I got the replacements off of ebay for around $5.50 shipped.
I also installed an extra banana plug tied to earth ground so I could easily plug in an anti-static strap.
The quick and easy hack is turning this unit from a 3A power supply to 5A. On the same circuit board that the pots are on, there is a smaller blue pot that adjusts the overall value of the pots. It you turn it all the way down, you get 3A output. Conversely, if you turn it all the way up, you get 5A output. That saves me almost $50 from the upgraded unit.
