Despite regular claims that the Ayr has few natural brown trout and requires artificial stocking, this video reveals the true situation for those willing to look. This video was made from around 15 minutes of film shot at the tail of one pool. These numbers can be found elsewhere in the system if people care to explore. Of course they may not be as easy to catch as artificial stockies but that's a whole different argument.
Following years of mine and agricultural pollution, recover has been slow but with adequate conservation measures, we are beginning to see things improve for both the trout and salmon. This video reveals encouraging numbers of wild trout are thriving in the pools and glides.
Most of these trout were between 8" and 12" but some larger fish can be seen.
