Welcome to Migdol Edar, also known as the Shepherd’s Field.
These might have been the fields that the shepherds were watching over their sheep. This is also the likely location where Ruth was gleaning in the field of Boaz.
The identification of this site goes back to Constantine’s mother, Helena. She decided that this was the location and had a church built on the site.
Scripture tells us that after the appearance of the angels, the shepherds went into the City of Bethlehem. That is about 1.5 miles from this site.
