Nekomiya Mana Agent Story | Cat and Mouse Game (Zenless Zone Zero)
I normally don't like of cat girls, but for some odd reason, I think Nekomata is pretty cool. It's probably because of her goofy personality, and whenever she's on screen, you're in for a laugh, very much like Billy himself.
Her whole past with the Red Fang Gang was pretty straightforward and to the point, without making it too overbearing. It showcases that Nekomata is very much like a cat, always on her own path and tries to enjoys what life has to offer. She's mischievous and cunning when we first met the Cunning Hares, and was actually intent on avenging Silver's death, who used to be a better person until he changed and caused the gang's downfall on being nothing more than any other criminal factions out there. But it also illustrates that despite their fault, she has a good heart, selfish yes, but good nonetheless.
I think the primary reason why I enjoy the Cunning Hares as a whole is that despite their good qualities, they do have some glaring fault individually.
Nicole is actually good at making money despite the meme with her being in debt and a cheapskate. It's just she spent a lot of money supporting orphans from the orphanage she grew up in. And contrary to popular belief, Anby, Billy, and Nekomata are paid well, as you can see from the Trust Events. Nicole is great at making money, but she's equally as good at losing it too, all for a good reason of course.
Anby is pretty much the second in command in the Cunning Hares when you think about it. She's arguably the best fighter as of now, and is generally the most capable combat wise in the story. However, her unconditional love and trust with Nicole prevents her from ever going against her decisions, especially when it concerns financial matters. Her past with Nicole is quite wholesome and is the reason why she trusts her so much, she's basically the most loyal one.
Billy Kid is the clown of the group, the most jovial and goofy android that is basically a yes man on the man. However, underneath all that laughs, there's more of to him, due to his past with the Sons of Calydon, it's safe to assume to that he's been around for quite some time depending on Piper's age. He wasn't just a member, he was Caesar's champion, proving that he's extremely capable in his Outer Ring days. By far, he's the most mysterious alongside Anby, as we don't know much about them except for a few crumbs.
And finally Nekomata, not that much to explore about her. Her arc is done ever since first chapter, as that was basically a story on how she came to join the Cunning Hares. She felt compelled to leave her past behind, and now has found a new home that aligns with her ideals and would treat her like family again. In hindsight, she and Nicole are pretty ordinary in comparison to Anby and Billy who have a more mysterious past. But I think the scope of their background being from someone who grew up in the streets and knew the harshness of the regular people makes them a great character to in a sense to relate to. She's trying to live her life to the fullest and have fun, just make some dennies and have fun with her new family.
I can't believe I'm liking a uwu catgirl but here I am. Like her whole thing is cringey but like it's also adorable? I honestly can't believe this. Also, her voice actress is phenomenal, almost everyone of the Cunning Hares have pretty iconic voices.
