About Sound of Egypt Orchestra
“Sound of Egypt” Orchestra was founded in March 2013, holding its first concert on 9 June 2013 at the “Cairo Opera House”. Aiming to introduce drama music composed by the founder and the conductor of the orchestra “Ahmed Atef”, which called for the idea of establishing the first orchestra to revive the heritage Egyptian drama music for the great authors, such as “Ali Ismail”, “Fouad El Zahery”, “Andrea Ryder”, “Youssef Shawky”, “Ammar El Sharaie” and “Omar Khairat”. And to connect music with dramatic action, the performance is accompanied by a selection of dramatic scenes on large screens behind the orchestra. The musical program of the orchestra has wide-varied from the classics and patriotics of Egyptian cinema, the international selections used in classic Egyptian movies and also to the soundtracks of Hollywood movies. The orchestra combines orchestral instruments, oriental instruments and Western band instruments, and aims to provide a quality of instrumental music, written with professional music tools of orchestral distribution and polyphony to suit the audience taste. The orchestra includes a great selection of the most talented musicians and artists in Egypt and the Arab world, which gave a great opportunity to diversify forms of music in its programs, from traditional Egyptian and Arab music to classical and international music, alongside the accompaniment of many singers.

About Ahmed Atef
A violinist, composer and conductor, He obtained his DMA and he is a violin teacher at the High Institute of Arabic Music/Academy of Arts. He acknowledged officially as music composer in the Egyptian Radio in 1998, as he composed incidental music for many films, short story films and documentary films as well as drama series, as the TV series "The Nightmare" movie "Fas malh w dakh" and movie "Daadoosh". Atef participated in two conducting workshops in years 2015-2016 at Cairo Opera House with Cairo Symphony Orchestra, as he was chosen to participate at the final concert to conduct the orchestra. He attended a workshop and competition for orchestral conducting in London in August 2016 with the Austrian conductor Achim Holub with the London Classical Soloists Orchestra, where he conducted two concerts and won the first prize with the Jury voting.
In September 2017, he had the privilege of a music scholarship in orchestral conducting at the USA under the fund of the Fulbright commission in Egypt for the academic year 2017/2018. He studied at DePaul University / School of Music.
In February 2018, He was invited with the Yemeni Artist and Composer "Ahmed Fathy" to conduct his music compositions in Italy, Rome. In October 2018, He was invited in collaboration with the Yemeni culture center in Russia/Moscow and Tchaikovsky Conservatory to conduct the Moscow Symphony Conservatory Orchestra with the principal Russian conductor Viacheslav Valeev at Rachmaninoff concert hall.
