Join me on my journey to create a flexible liquid decal system in Unity. Upon entering the VR game, a major game mechanic is the toxic sludge that the player can use to destroy barriers and power up batteries. The main principle behind the decal system is 3D texture painting via a secondary UV atlas. The appropriate textures are then interpreted by a shader to create a visually appealing sludge effect.
