After years of pain staking work dating back to 2010. 879 was finally moved from its temporary home in Epping where the locomotive was briefly utilised as a stationary boiler. A function that was instrumental in funding the long-winded restoration project.
In 2013 permission was granted and the locomotive was towed to Monument station in Cape Town for finishing and final assembly. Once this work was completed 879 was put threw a series of steam tests within Monument station to eliminate any problems prior to its return to service.
This video covers one of those occasions as well as the roadworthy in Culemborg yard and fire cleaning.
Crewing the locomotive was driver Frikkie Gerber and Fireman Brett Radloff. In addition Matt Raubenheimer, Chris Andrzejewski and John Page.
