During the 1920s, the socialist president of Mexico, President Calles, began closing Catholic Churches, making it illegal for Priests to say Mass or render any other services. Churches were invaded, destroyed and many Priests shot or hanged. This clip from the movie "For Greater Glory," depicts Cristero General Gorostieta marshalling his volunteers before a battle.
