Dr. Yunus has a long-standing connection with Bill Clinton, which began when Clinton was the Governor of the Arkansas state in America. Clinton was impressed by Dr. Yunus’s work and later invited him to the White House. Their friendship continued over the years, with Clinton publicly praising Dr. Yunus’s efforts to alleviate poverty. But that was the story of Dr Yunus’s success in America in 80s or 90s.
Now the situation is totally opposite, specially very odd to Dr. Yunus. In short, his connection with Donald Trump is too much complex. It is clear that the return of Donald Trump to the White House might not be a good news for Dr Yunus. Yunus had upset Trump in 2016 when he made a big donation to Hillary Clinton Foundation. Trump has also strongly condemned attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. With the effects of other incidents, it is said that Yunus’s honey moon with America is now over.
