This year marks the 10th anniversary of the bloody June 4 Chinese Army crackdown on the pro-democracy movement at Beijing's Tiananmen Square
Pro-democracy activists marched through the streets of Hong Kong to commemorate the anniversary calling for democracy and justice throughout mainland China and Hong Kong.
Demonstrators marched peacefully through the streets of Hong Kong demanding that people remember the Tiananmen Square massacre ten years ago.
Hundreds, if not thousands of people were killed when tanks and troops descended on demonstrators at Tiananmen Square in the early morning of June 4, 1989.
Many in Hong Kong protested against the crackdown at that time and the issue remains a sensitive one in the territory, which reverted from British to Chinese rule in 1997.
Calling for justice and democracy, protesters said the struggle goes on.

The marchers also called for democratic rule in China and the release of political dissidents.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"Demand for democracy is real here in Hong Kong and will echo for a long time now - and until the day that China is fully democratised we will not give up - and the struggle will continue."

Police in mainland China recently have been detaining dissidents and increasing pressure on activists before the week-long anniversary.
Hong Kong activists hold frequent protests to demand Beijing release all jailed dissidents and reassess the student-led 1989 democracy demonstrations.
Beijing officially has regarded the demonstrations as an attempt to overthrow the government.
