- It was built during the Mamluk era in 1318 as the royal mosque of the Citadel.
- The Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha or The Alabaster Mosque.
- It was built between 1830 and 1848 with Ottoman architectural style,
- in memory of Tusan Pasha, Muhammad Ali’s oldest son, who died in 1816.
