I received a new cast Iron dutch oven for Christmas. I went down the woods since the snow was on and I have been excited to get out in the snow this winter as much as possible and do as many wild camps as possible.
In this episode im down at my usual spot in the woods at my permanent shelter. a bug out camp that needs some renovations. I recently watched far north bushcraft and survival and in one video it was about the Siberian log fire. I decided spontaneously to make my own Siberian log fire in the hope that the campfire would last all night with those logs burning away. I believe I was calling it a swedish log fire in the video. My mistake as I was getting mixed up.
The camp fire was cosy as always once it was established. I then got on with the campfire cooking. I cooked lean diced stew in the dutch oven and added in potatoes, carrot and Bisto gravy. It was delicious!! A good hearty bush-crafter meal in the woods. Especially in the snow and winter, makes the difference with enjoyment or misery.
I used the laplander saw, hultafors bushcraft axe and mora robust bushcraft knife. It's great getting in the woods for campfire and practising survival skills. Always helping myself to be more prepared for SHTF while enjoying the moment too. Loving it.
