The first new Piccadilly Line train has finally arrived in London, but not without some drama—it's already covered in graffiti! 🚋💥
Transport for London (TfL) has invested nearly £3 billion to upgrade the Piccadilly Line, bringing in 94 brand-new trains featuring walk-through carriages, air conditioning (yes, even underground!), digital display screens, and more. Around 20% of these sleek new trains are being assembled in Vienna, with the rest coming from Siemens’ new factory in Goole, Yorkshire.
But as the first train was making its way from Vienna, it got an unexpected makeover near Latchmere rail junction. Now, British Transport Police are on the case.
This first train is set for a year of rigorous testing before entering service next year. And with this upgrade, TfL plans to boost the Piccadilly Line’s peak frequencies to 36 trains an hour! Stay tuned for more updates on this big change for London’s underground.
