Ever since its discovery in March-April 2020, people are curious to know how to watch comet SWAN with the naked eye. Comet SWAN is a gas comet that will reach its perihelion (the closest point to Sun) on May 27. At the beginning of May, the magnitude of comet SWAN was about +6, making it barely visible with the naked eye. But by the end of this month, it will reach a magnitude of +3, making it visible with the naked eye.
For the observers in the southern hemisphere, the best day to watch the comet was on 18 May, an hour before the sunrise. The comet is going from the constellation of Pisces to Auriga, covering Triangulum and Perseus.
For the observers at mid-northern latitude, comet SWAN will be best visible in the evening sky, in the northwest direction. After May 27, it will be lost in the glare of the Sun and will reappear in the first week of June. It will be visible near the bright star Capella.
To watch Comet SWAN, make sure you use the space apps given in the link below. These apps will help you locate the comet quickly. Use binoculars, if possible. Light pollution matters a lot. So dark skies will put up a better show.
