Amarinder Singh, who is set to launch his new political party, addressed a press conference on Wednesday. Singh said he has applied for a party name, symbol & is awaiting Election Commission's approval. The former Punjab chief minister had last week said he would soon launch his own party. Singh had said he was hopeful of a seat adjustment with BJP provided the farmers' stir was resolved. The former Congress leader's announcement comes ahead of the Punjab election early next year. Amarinder Singh had been at loggerheads with Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. The two-time chief minister faced an unceremonious exit from the state govt last month. Singh had also said he was looking at alliances with parties such as breakaway Akali groups. Singh had earlier added that he would not rest till he secures the future of 'my people & state’. Amarinder Singh had resigned as Punjab CM last month amid a bitter power tussle with Sidhu. The ruling Congress in the state replaced Amarinder Singh with Charanjit Singh Channi.
