"So, what does a self-service business intelligence solution look like? Well, what we know is that domain experts know what they want and when they need it.
They often have to wait for others with access to both the systems and knowledge of tools to provide that information for them.
True self-service reporting can be used by anyone. You don't need to be technical, and you can access it from anywhere, on any device, and it should require no training. It should let anyone with domain knowledge do what they need to do for themselves.
What you can see on the screen is our self-service dashboard. It's very easy to navigate around, drill into contextual information, and get to the underlying detail.
But actually, what the power of a self-service tool is, is that people can build this for themselves. So here, I can bring in a new cell on the page, go into an area where I can access all of the databases I have been given permission to look at.
I can select the data I want to look at - in this case, it's an invoice and order value. I can create some information views today, and once I've got that, I can put this in the library and save.
