Thru-hiking the Mojave-Sonoran Trail: Section 6 - 92 miles from Bullhead City to Lake Havasu. The MOST SCENIC section of the MST? I think so! South of Davis Dam, now in Arizona, I hike south through the Black Mountains, the same range that extends north to Lake Mead, where I walked these same mountains in the Jimbilnan & Pinto Valley Wilderness. Here, the scenery is just as good, perhaps better. The Mount Nutt Wilderness is stunning, with outstanding canyons around every turn. I walk the crest of the Black Range through the southern end of the Mount Nutt Wilderness to Cool Springs Station, entering Warm Springs Wilderness. Here, I hike to the top of the wild and desolate Black Mesa, where I discover a small plane crash memorial. Then it's a hike through the Needles of the Havasu Wilderness, which offered some of the best views along the entire Mojave-Sonoran Trail. The views from the ridgelines in the Needles in the Mohave Mountains are absurd; impossibly pointy peaks, overhanging ridgelines, sand dunes and the beautiful blue Colorado River glimmering among a sea of vast desert. Section 6 of the Mojave-Sonoran Trail ends with an excellent canyon walk and a fun route around a 100ft pour off, and a hitch into Lake Havasu.

The Mojave-Sonoran Trail is a NEW 625-mile cross country thru hiking route connecting southern Nevada with southern Arizona via the Colorado River corridor. The MST can be hiked from Nov-Mar making it an excellent winter thru hiking route for desert hikers and those seeking warm weather. I hiked 600+ miles over 46 days, with 9 zero days, to complete the Mojave-Sonoran Trail in Nov/Dec 2021. This is a 9 part documentary vlog series highlighting my thru hike of the Mojave-Sonoran Trail.
