Challenging behaviour is a form of communication. If the teacher is able to become someone who is able to understand what is being communicated, their classroom and the lives of the vulnerable pupils in it will be transformed. Peter Nelmes has taught children with emotional and behavioural difficulties for almost thirty years. He has worked in a variety of educational settings, including abroad. He has a Doctorate in Education, the focus of which was the role of the emotions in teaching and learning. He was also an Associate Lecturer for the Open University for ten years, teaching on the MA in Education programme. He is the author of Troubled Hearts, Troubled Minds: How emotions affect learning (Crown House, to be published September 2019).
Peter lives in Cambridgeshire and is married with two children. Away from the classroom he enjoys long walks with his dogs, travel, and drawing and painting." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
