A Walk Over This Disused Railway Viaduct in the Peak District.
Following on from visiting the old stations of Rowsley ([ Ссылка ]), we head only short distance to the other end of the village where the old Midland Railway crossed the River Derwent.
Built in the early 1860s, the viaduct has 4 arches. One of many stunning viaducts alond this section of line that further north at Bakewell starts the popular Monsal Trail.
The railway line closed in 1968. There are hopes that the nearby Peak Rail, which terminates just south of Rowsley village can extend towards Bakewell. Which would in that case see the viaduct returned to use.
