(6 Jan 2017) Crowds gathered in various parts of Lima on Friday to welcome the arrival of the Three Kings, or Magi, who, according to the bible, followed a star to find baby Jesus.
The event was part of celebrations marking the Christian feast of Epiphany held on January 6, which recalls the Gospel account of the three wise men who brought gifts to Jesus, after he was born in Bethlehem.
On Friday, the three Magi, members of Lima's mounted police, made their way on horseback through Peru's capital neighbourhoods, handing out gifts to young and old.
Their message: "togetherness, peace and love."
The Kings made their way to symbolic mangers throughout the city leaving gifts at all of them.
In Peru, children write letters to the Magi asking for gifts.
