Jamia Coordination Committee member Safoora Zargar, who was arrested under the anti-terror law UAPA, has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court in a case related to communal violence in northeast Delhi during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act in February. Zargar, an M Phil student of Jamia Millia Islamia, is more than four months pregnant. The HC has however set certain condition for bail, asking Safoora to remain in touch with Investigating Officer through phone at least once in 15 days and furnish a personal bond of ₹10,000 and a surety of like amount. Opposing her bail, the Delhi Police had said that 39 deliveries have taken place in Tihar Jail in the last 10 years and pregnancy is no ground to give bail to Zargar.
