Lunchtime Organ Recital - Europe Day Interactive Concert
Join Peter Dyke on Tuesday 9 May 2023 for a special interactive concert in celebration of Europe Day.
In this organ concert with a difference: the audience is invited to take part, and compete for a prize!
Here is how it will work: Peter Dyke will play ten pieces of music, each one by a composer from a different European country. The programme sheet will give the name of the country, the composer, their dates, and some brief details about the music, saying whether it is fast or slow, calm or vigorous, if the feet play the tune, and so on.
But there is a catch! The ten pieces will be played in a different order from the order on the programme sheet. On hearing each piece, audience members match what they hear to one of the descriptions and write the name of the country on an answer sheet, given out with the programme at the start of the concert.
At the end, all answer sheets are collected in, and the entry that has the most correct answers wins the prize (in the event of a tie-break, lots are drawn).
