The Cone Penetration Testing in Silty Soils (CSi) project aims to create an industry-wide understanding of silty soils behaviour when assessing wind turbine locations. This will allow offshore wind developers to de-risk foundation design and installation, as well as reduce costs by eliminating unnecessary conservatism.

The project is combining data from:
- Offshore wind farm testing
- Onshore site testing
- Laboratory testing
- Numerical modelling

The CSi project is led by Ørsted and managed by through the Carbon Trust’s Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) as a joint industry project.
