Find the location you wand to place your voltmeter and run two wires
Run the black ground wire to the frame of the vehicle.
Run the Red wire to a positive wire connected to a fuse or use a switch that works as soon as you turn the ignition on.
Cut that wire and make a T connection there adding the wire of the voltmeter!
