All employees of the New South Wales Police Force will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 as the state continues its battle to contain its Delta outbreak.
The vaccine program will require all police force members to receive their first jab by September 30 and they will have until the end of November to be fully vaccinated.
“We know that the Delta strain of this virus poses a significant risk to police officers and staff. Each day, we ask our officers to front up and perform their vital policing functions in this extremely challenging environment,” said Corporate Services Deputy Commissioner Karen Webb APM.
“The only way to face that risk is by ensuring that COVID-19 vaccines are administered to all staff.”
It is the latest public sector workforce subjected to mandatory vaccinations following the New South Wales State Government’s requirement for school staff to get the jab.
Several companies in the private sector have also made COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for its staff, including Qantas and SPC.
