A group of Kenyan pilgrims from the western county of Bungoma has arrived in the eastern town of Bugiri on foot for this years Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations. The pilgrims left Kenya four days ago and hope to reach the Namugongo shrine on the 3rd of June. Thousands of pilgrims trek many miles to attend the annual celebration in commemoration of the Martyrs who were killed between 1885 and 1887 for refusing to renounce their faith.
