Marilyn Chambers was the biggest adult film star of the 1970s and 1980s, during the genre's explosive rise from 8MM loops and raincoat theaters to feature production and mainstream distribution. After the phenomenal success of Behind The Green Door, the 2nd highest grossing adult film of all time, and Resurrection of Eve, one of the most profitable films of the 70s, both by San Francisco's infamous Mitchell Brothers, Miss Chambers left X-rated films behind and spent the next six years headlining separate plays in Las Vegas, New York, and London; writing two books; recording a disco single; and cementing acting ability she flashed in her foray into erotic cinema with a starring role in David Cronenbergs horror classic Rabid. She also agreed to authorize Inside Marilyn Chambers, a pseudo-documentary from The Mitchell Brothers that combined X-rated outtakes from her two adult films with behind the scenes footage and new interviews with Marilyn and her co-stars.

Inside Marilyn Chambers is NOT available on DVD and is out of print on VHS, but the brilliant Behind The Green Door and the extremely well-acted Resurrection of Eve are available on beautifully remastered DVDs available at AdultDVDEmpire.com.

Miss Chambers passed away on April 12th, 2009, ten days before her 57th birthday. She leaves behind her greatest accomplishment, her eighteen year old daughter, McKenna. Her legacy is not only as the first mainstream movie star of adult cinema but as a talented actress, stage performer, Libertarian activist, and outspoken advocate for female sexual empowerment. She is missed by her legion of diverse fans, and remembered as both an inimitable icon and a beautiful human being.
