Axiom 1, the world's first all-private astronaut mission to the International Space Station, docked at the ISS on Saturday morning after about a 20-hour flight with three wealthy businessmen on board.
The entrepreneurs paid $55m each to stay in space for just more than a week.
It is the first non-professional astronaut team to travel to the ISS.
The crew will carry out scientific research and other projects during their eight-day stay.
NASA and others say it is a milestone in the commercialisation of low-Earth orbit.
But critics say the private space race needs to be regulated.
Al Jazeera’s Sara Khairat reports.
