The Ohio State University Marching Band: We Dont Give a Damn for the Whole State of MI at Skull Session OSU vs Purdue 10 20 2012. The Skull Session ends with the Band singing "We Don't Give a Damn for the Whole State of Michigan."
The Band marches in a set of doors on the south end of St. John's Arena, the old OHio State basketball arena. The percussion section performs a 2-3 minute drill in the vestibule and inner hallway leading to the tunnel/ramp that leads to the arena floor. The Band marches onto the floor at a 180bpm clip at the conclusion of the percussion drill. The Band performs the pre-game and halftime show music in the arena approximately 2 hours prior to game time at every home game. All music is played from memory. The Skull Session was originally intended to be a final practice before a performance. The crowds regularly exceed 10,000 fans. The football team, dressed in coats and ties, marches through the assembly after a rousing musical introduction. Typically a player speaks, followed by remarks from the football coach, after which the team leaves.
