This video shows you how to remove the soft top and frame from my 1996 NA Mazda MX-5 Miata. I replace the top with a soft top from an NB Miata. The NB Miata soft top came with an improved glass window that does not yellow or crack. I had the opportunity to pick up an NB soft top from a local guy who parts out Miatas. The NA and NB models share the same soft top frame and are completely interchangeable! A frame to frame swap simply requires unbolting and removing the whole top and any panels or carpeting that may be in the way. It is a straight forward process that should only take an our or two at most!

My old top's window was yellowed and cracked. The NB tops are glass! Hopefully this guy seals the water out well. I already love the improved visibility.

Any of the NA or NB soft tops and hard tops are completely interchangeable. I used an OEM glass window soft top from an NB and installed it on my NA Miata.

Tools Needed for this task:
-10mm, 12mm, 17mm Sockets (I think that is all of them)
-Flat head screw driver
-Phillips screw driver
-Plastic fastener puller (optional, but really helps the process go a bit faster)
