Chinese military hold flag ceremony marking 95th founding anniversary of People's Liberation Army
The Chinese military held a flag ceremony on Monday celebrating the 95th founding anniversary of the People's Liberation Army in China.
Military guards in black and white marched around Beijing's Tiananmen Square - the site of a brutal massacre that killed thousands of demonstrators calling for political and economic reform in 1989 - on August 1 before hoisting the Chinese flag up the pole.
The People's Liberation Army, the Chinese Communist Party's armed wing, was established on August 1, 1927.
It is reportedly the world's largest military, with more than 915,000 personnel on active duty, according to the 2021 Pentagon China Military Power Report.
