Masala Puri Recipe / Whole Wheat Spicy Crispy Aloo Masala Poori / Kids Lunch Box / Travel Food
Masala Puri is a famous hot crispy spicy drooling choice of breakfast or tea time snack in India specially in North India. Although it is enough spicy & don’t need any accompaniment but in northern region people prefer to eat with aloo curry.
Its less time consuming & easy to prepare to be a good option for lunch box. In traveling too it can be relished with a cup of tea or with any chutney or pickle
Dish : Masala Puri
Serves / Yield : 12 puris

Ingredients:
1 cup atta / wheat flour
1 large potato- boiled & peeled
3 tbsp rava
1 tsp Green chillies
1/2 tsp Ginger
Salt - to taste
1/2 Red chilli powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Carom seeds
1/2 tsp Fennel seeds
1/8 tsp Heeng / asafoetida
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
2 tbsp Green coriander leaves
2 tbsp ghee / oil
Oil to fry
Directions :
1. Grate boiled & peeled potato with FINE grater in a big mixing bowl, add rava & wheat flour and rub between your palms. Now add all other ingredients one by one and knead a hard dough. If dough is very hard in kneading then add little water. Cover with a damp cloth and keep it aside for 20-30 minutes
2. Refresh the dough once again with oily hands for 2 minutes.
3. Divide the dough in 12 equal flat round balls of equal thickness & size
4. Deep fry all pooris in very hot oil
5. Serve hot with choice of curry or pickle or chutney or along with tea
Do’s & Don’ts
1. To make these masala puri, ghee can be replaced with oil but its a matter of choice
2. Rub or mix all in the ingredients nicely between your palms.
3. The more you knead this dough, end result will be better
4. if aloo has lumps after grating, the pooris will not puffed up
