Javier Martinez put Bayern into a 2-1 lead against Schalke in the 69th minute, with the centre back heading from a striker’s position, despite the ball not coming from a set piece. As if that wasn’t unusual enough, the goal converted from Arjen Robben’s delightful cross was the Spaniard’s first in the Bundesliga since May 2013 when he netted against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Martinez and Bayern ended up winning the game 3-1 to build on their lead at the top of the table.
