Tihar, also known as Deepawali, is a significant Hindu festival celebrated in Nepal and parts of India. Lasting five days, it honors various animals, such as crows, dogs, and cows, recognizing their special roles in human lives. Each day has its rituals and meanings: Kaag Tihar (crow worship) starts the festival, followed by Kukur Tihar (dog worship) and Gai Tihar (cow worship). The festival peaks with Laxmi Puja, dedicated to the goddess of wealth, Laxmi. The final day, Bhai Tika, celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. Homes are decorated with lights, and traditional oil lamps illuminate pathways, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Tihar fosters community spirit, love, and gratitude, as people exchange gifts, sing traditional songs, and enjoy festive foods.
