The “Blue Panda Lab” is a virtual event, hosted by WWF Greece on July 24, 2021, with main theme “Tourism and Marine Protected Areas in the post-Covid era”, searching for the components that will formulate the day after, and especially the co-existence of people and nature in a Marine Protected Area (MPA). The case study of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, Greece, will be the starting point for a Mediterranean wide reflection.
The event is linked with the 2021 Blue Panda’s sailing trip in the Mediterranean and its relevant visit to Zakynthos. WWF’s sailing boat will visit six Marine Protected Areas across the Mediterranean where WWF is present, aiming to raise awareness among citizens and stakeholders, highlighting the MPA’s role for biodiversity, local communities and other activities in the area.
Volunteers, WWF staff, representatives from environmental organizations and local authorities share their experience regarding the protection of marine biodiversity.
