Wanted to get a recording of the curly maple stave drums I built. I built these drum last year and have been gigging them for a solid 6 months. These were built not just assembled.
They are holding up great -tune up quickly every time and look great. It was one of the most rewarding projects I have ever undertaken because I get to enjoy them each time I play them. I hope you all like them. I will get a more polished vid of these drums up soon -for now this video is unaltered -straight off the mics.
The mics are run into a (stand alone -no computer) Firepod. I hook to the cue mix out of the firepod into the Zoom Q3HD input(this switches the on-board stereo condenser mics off of the Zoom). The firepod has no onboard mixing features. No EQ, No FX, No pan, just preamp gain on each mic. The result is a decent representation of what the drums sound like naturally.
The sizes are 8 10 12 14 toms, 3x14 free floating piccolo snare and a 20x15 bass drum-virgin with a D112 mounted inside. The tom mics are AKG C418's x4 and the other 2 mics are AKG c1000s condensers with the pattern adapters off.
The playalong tracks areMaceo tunes.
