The beauty that can be created by using one of our Wallet Kits...
Here's how we did it.
We started by using our Craftool Pro Leather Burnisher. This action will compress the leather grain, thus providing for better cuts and for better uniform coverage of dyes and finishes. The difference of this step is huge when comparing unburnished and burnished finished leather.
Next we used a Wool Dobber to apply our Eco-Flo Oil Dye in the Dark Brown color. Our Eco-Flo Oil Dye is A blend of oil and spirits created for veg-tanned leathers, providing excellent coverage and penetration for quality results. The coverage went on incredibly smooth and had consistent penetration.
After letting the Oil Dye dry over night, we came back with our Eco-Flo Super Shene acrylic finish to seal in the oil dye, give a smooth shene finish and prepare the wallet for a long life of rich color.
To give our kit some extra color we decided to add in our Red Super Softy Pigskin Suede. Using contact cement to bind the suede to the kit leather we then came back with an Al Stohlman Brand Round Knife to trim the edges of the suede to line up perfectly with our kit pieces. A Craftool Poly Roller Tool is really helpful to make sure you flatten out your suede backing without scratching your leather or stretching the suede after cementing.
Using Sheepwool Remnants to buff the finish is such an important step for those who want to add that extra shine for an amazing high end finish.
Because the holes of our Kits our pre-punched for you, all you have to do is stitch. Our kits come with a beautiful natural color Carriage Hand Sewing Thread. We chose to use a Red Carriage thread on this project to compliment the red suede. The two needle saddle stitch is a great choice for those who want to get the longest life out of their projects. For a finishing touch we came back with a Craftool Pro Leathercraft Hammer
