This week’s video was a comparison video. The folks from The MeatStick reached out to us and asked if we would like to do a comparison video using the other thermometers we use in our videos. We were happy to give it a try!

What we found with The MeatStick X was its accuracy when it came to doneness was more closely in line with our Thermapen. Furthermore, The MeatStick X ambient temperature reading was directly in line with our RecTeq’s reading. This is not to say The Meater + was not accurate; it was just that The MeatStick X was closer in line with our wired and handheld thermometers. The Meater + was very close to the same readings.

Both interfaces are very user friendly, although I feel the app for the The Meater + has more features than The MeatStick X.
As far as distance from the base, The MeatStick X seemed to hold its connection at a greater distance. We tested these with just the connection with the base, both held connection well, but The MeatStick X was better.

Overall both of these products are great. My advice would be whichever you choose, always be sure to monitor your temps with a good instant read thermometer as well. We compared these in less than ideal conditions, it was cold and rainy. We may go back in the future and do a follow up review to see if we can duplicate the results.
