St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) has received $5.745 million in Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grants that will go toward the demolition and replacement of existing pavement surfaces to park commercial aircraft, called terminal apron rehabilitation. Work is scheduled to begin in August 2015 on the project, which will not affect passenger service. Completion is expected by early 2016.
